Description of Rotation:

Peds Urgent Care is a second year rotation that takes place in the Children’s Hospital ED Too and ED Annex, which sees lower-acuity patients than the CHO ED. The rotation consists of three 8 hour shifts per week, family practice clinic, and PBL.

Absence/Illness Policy:
These shifts do not necessarily have to be covered by our residents if you are sick, but it is very important to call the attending at ED Too as soon as you can if you will be unable to make your shift due to illness.

Residents are not excused for continuity deliveries during urgent care shifts.

Administrative Details:
At CCRMC: Please contact Candy Jacobus in the Infection Control Department a few weeks prior to your rotation in order to update all your immunizations, PPD, and mask fit information.
At CHO - Signing In: Prior to starting your first shift, check in with Eileen Murray at (510) 428-3786, or Katherine Castillo at (510) 428-3331, in the Medical Director’s Office down the hall from the cafeteria on the 2nd floor. Their hours are from 8 am to 5 pm. After you sign in, a computer password will be given to you which will give you access to CHO's Meditech system. Eileen will also give you a form which you should bring to the Badge Office, (510) 428-3600, in the garage across from the hospital.

At CHO - Signing Out: This is now a required step. Contact Eileen Murray during business hours for details about checking out of CHO. You will need to check out of medical records and the library at the end of your rotation. Turn in your badge, either during the day to the badge office, or if your last shift is at night, you can place your badge in an envelope and place it under the door of the Medical Director's Office with a completed sign-out sheet and home address. Your deposit will be either handed to you or, if after hours, mailed to you at your chosen address.
